Hello Rosie, I really enjoyed taking this course, first because I was able to take my time section by section and also look through samples and examples from all the resources you provided. This helped me understand what I need to be working towards as I become an IF. Also, the fact that there was information I did not know but it was taught beautifully and was very understandable. Even though I've worked as a provider for someone within SDP, there was still a lot I did not know was underneath all of SDP as a whole. Lastly, It was wonderful being able to receive guidance from you not only within the comments section but a one-on-one as well as part of this program. I really felt taken care of throughout the process. Thank you again for this amazing training! I will definitely be waiting to hear more when it becomes available.

Thank you for this course! I am looking forward to getting the manual I purchased alongside this course as an easy reference guide while I set up the 'business' side of things. I have been eagerly waiting to transition my own kids to SDP for quite some time and now that I'm in the final stages of that, I'm finally ready to take the leap and offer services to other families. I have been a lay advocate in my community for several years. I have many people who contact me regularly through word of mouth for help with Regional Center (including Self Determination), IHSS assistance, and IEP questions. I have hesitated in becoming a professional advocate in any related space because I know many families are on limited incomes and cannot always afford these services. Becoming an Independent Facilitator offers me the opportunity to be compensated for my knowledge and assistance while also not creating an undue financial burden on the families that need the help. I am also often time constrained due to the care needs of my own children so this, again, offers needed flexibility in scheduling. Unlike an educational advocate who is primarily working during school hours, an IF can set a schedule that works for my own family. I am really hopeful about this opportunity to better serve my community. I'm glad I finally stepped out of my comfort zones to learn how to make this a viable business and source of additional income to provide for my children.
